Bihar might still figure among the lowest-literacy states in India, but it has surprised everyone by posting the second-highest decadal growth in female literacy rates in the country.
The number of literate women in the state more than doubled from 10,4,65,201 in 2001 to 21,6,78,279 in 2011-- a 107 per cent growth, which is next only to Dadra and Nagar Haveli
