With each mega event held, it appears the collective will of the international community to address sustainable development issues is waning. The recent International Meeting to Review the Implementation of the Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States (sids) is a case in point. The meeting's utter failure to come up with any meaningful goals or targets makes even the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development
