The National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) conducts nationwide socio-economic surveys as part of its “rounds”, each round normally of a year’s duration. The NSS surveys are conducted through household interviews from a random sample of households selected through a scientific design and cover practically the entire geographical area of the country. The All-India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS) is generally conducted as one of the main enquiries of an NSS round at decenial intervals. This provides a series of AIDIS’s. The AIDIS was carried out as a part of the 70th round survey of NSSO during January to December 2013. This was the seventh such survey conducted at the all-India level. The key indicators of assets, debt and investment in India during 2012-13 are presented.
