Order of the Supreme Court of India regarding cruelties meted to the elephants in the State of Kerala, 18/08/2015 [1]

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre and ors. vs. Union of India and Ors. dated 18/08/2015 regarding cruelties meted to the elephants in the State of Kerala and how they are required to be curbed.

The Apex Court directed that the Chief Wild Life Warden shall see to it that all the captive elephants existing in the State of Kerala are counted and in the absence of obtainment of requisite certificate under Section 42 of the 1972 Act and the declaration made under Section 40, appropriate action shall be initiated against the owners.
