Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Sailen Mondal Vs Howrah Municipal Corporation & Others dated 06/07/2016 regarding filling up of ponds, Howrah, West Bengal.
Tribunal makes it clear that the interim order dt. 23.3.2015 passed by NGT restraining the Howrah Municipal Corporation, Developers, Contractors and all persons concerned from doing any work relating to filling up of the water bodies by dumping garbage and construction debris as well as discharging untreated water into the ponds, shall continue to be operative. If this order is found to have been violated in any manner Tribunal shall be compelled to take coercive measures against those who are responsible.
