The Court noted that River Karamana originates from Agastyar- Koodam of Western Ghats and join the Arabian Sea after flowing 68 km.

National Green Tribunal directs the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Najafgarh ondent No. 7, to remove encroachments, if any, and keep the existing pond ‘Johad’, measuring 4 Bighas; improve its cleanliness within a period of 3 months and eventually develop the water body into a reservoir.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Biranchi Narayan Mahapatra Vs State of Odisha & Others dated 08/09/2016 regarding encroachment of natural ponds, Berhampur Municipality, Ganjam District, Odisha. Municipal Commissioner, Brahmapur Municipal Corporation has stated before National Green Tribunal that “as soon as the rainy season is over all the encroachments on the embankments of tanks will be evicted.”
