Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of National Green Tribunal Bar Association Vs. Dr. Sarvabhoum Bagali (State of Karnataka) dated 25/09/2018. This application seeks direction for an enquiry into the death of three teenaged girls on 04.07.2014 belonging to Gubbewad village, Indi Block, Bijapur District, Karnataka, who fell and drowned in an abandoned sand mining pit on Bhima River on the side of State of Maharashtra. It is prayed that enquiry be held with respect to the role of the mining lease holders of the mine involved and also the liability of concerned mining officials.
National Green Tribunal directs Rs. 25 lakhs as the amount of compensation for each of the three girls, which will be paid on or before 31/10.2018 by M/s K.J.Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., Pune.
