The How2Guide for Solar Energy, a collaborative effort between the IEA and the International Solar Alliance (ISA), aims to provide stakeholders from government, industry, and civil society with the methodology and tools required to successfully plan and implement a roadmap for solar energy at the national or regional levels. While technology specific solar roadmaps exist, this document takes a holistic approach across all solar technologies, i.e. solar photovoltaic electricity (PV), concentrating solar power (CSP), a.k.a. solar thermal electricity, solar heating and cooling (SHC). Applications considered include utility-scale power generation from PV and CSP; on-grid and off-grid distributed electricity generation, solar thermal systems for water or space heating and/or cooling, solar heat for industry, solar cooking and solar fuels.
