The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on August 4, 2021 has issued Draft of the Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2021 to further amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. In Rule 126 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 which specifies “Prototype of every motor vehicle to be subject to test”, the following changes has been made: In first proviso which specifies “[Provided that the procedure for type approval of certification of motor vehicles for compliance to these rules shall be in accordance with the specifically AIS 161 (Automotive Industry Standard, as amended from time to time”.
