The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) on December 23, 2022, issued the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Second Amendment Rules, 2022 to further amend the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016. The following has been amended namely: Schedule III in Part B which states “List of other wastes applicable for import and export and not requiring Prior Informed” against Basel No. B1110, in column (2), after the entries, the following shall be inserted, namely “High End and High Value Used Medical Equipment other than Used Critical Care Medical Equipment for reuse (note the related entry in Schedule VI, B1110)” Before Note, the following shall be inserted, namely: “Import permitted in the country by the actual user or by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) or Indian Subsidiary of OEM or Trader on behalf of the actual user; High End and High-Value Medical Equipment is such medical equipment as specified by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from time to time”.
