The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change has notified the Environment (Protection) Fourth Amendment Rules, 2023. These Amendment Rules were notified on 14th June, 2023 and come into effect on that same date. The emission limits for new engines used for power generating set (hereinafter referred to as Genset) applications up to 800 kW Gross Mechanical Power. The Amendment Rules have revised the general condition relating to transition provisions for Gensets and Genset engines manufactured as per earlier norms. The Amendment Rules now state that the supply of Genset and Genset engine in respect of which purchase order has been received by the manufacturer on or before the 30th June, 2023 shall be permitted up to the 30th June, 2024 as per defined norms.
