Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Jitendra Singh Vs Rameshwar P Gupta & Others dated 21/08/2023.

The bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Dipankar Datta directed that the waterbodies in Greater Noida should be restored along with the catchment area. Counsel for Greater Noida and senior AAG for Uttar Pradesh assured to submit the restoration plan within four weeks.

The authorities informed the SC that the waterbodies in khasra no 490, 522, 552, and 676 as well as the land comprising other water bodies have not been allotted to any one. Some of these khasra numbers were earlier allotted but the allottees have surrendered the same.  

The SC after going through the photographs placed on record noted that the water bodies are presently lying as barren land and needs to be restored.
