Grievance in the application was that M/s Moon Beverages Ltd. and M/s Varun Beverages Ltd. were operating at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh in violation of environmental norms by discharging effluents in the nearby drain against the provisions of the Water Act, 1974. They are also extracting groundwater illegally.

Judgement of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Supertech Limited Vs Emerald Court Owner Resident Welfare Association & Others dated 31/08/2021.

The Supreme Court directed the demolition of twin 40 storey towers (Apex and Ceyane) in the Emerald Court project of Supertech Ltd in Noida for violation of building norms. The work of demolition should be carried out within a period of three months and must be carried out by Supertech Limited at its own cost under the supervision of the officials of NOIDA.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Abhisht Kusum Gupta Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 30/07/2021.

The issue for consideration was steps for preventing untreated sewage going to the irrigation canal in Sector 137, Noida. Sources of such discharge included non-functional/deficient STPs in 95 high rise buildings in Noida, industries as well waste water from upstream from Delhi and Ghaziabad from into the said canal which joins Yamuna and then Ganga.

The matter is related to the operation of hot mix plants in village Wazidpur, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The court had directed the Joint Committee of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) to look into the carrying capacity of the area, where the hot mix plants are in operation.

A team of assigned officers of CPCB, UPPCB, CGWA, Noida Authority, UP Jal Nigam authorized by District Magistrate inspected Noida Golf Course (NGC), Sector-43 in Noida to assess the situation of groundwater.

Inspection report on status of water quality on Noida drain as per National Green Tribunal order dated 30/07/2019 in Original Application No 1002/2018 in the matter of Abhisht Kusum Gupta Vs State of Uttar Pradesh uploaded on 24/02/2020. The Committee was directed to measure the faecal coliform content in the water samples which was a relevant factor for determining the water pollution.
