The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, (MoAFW) on September 01, 2023, published the Draft Insecticides (Sixth Amendment) Rules, 2023 to further amend the Insecticides Rules, 1971. The following has been stated namely: In rule 10 which states “Licence for sale, etc., of insecticides” in clause (iii) of sub-rule (3A): (a) In sub-clause (iii), after the first proviso, the following proviso shall be inserted: Provided that any person who applies for a grant of license for pest control operations using only Glyphosate and its derivatives must have passed the 12th Standard/Higher Secondary Certificate examination or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University with a training program meant exclusively for Glyphosate usage from one of the institutes as prescribed.
