The implementation of the the Punjab Preservation of Sub Soil Water Act, 2009, under which farmers cannot sow paddy before June 15, has been instrumental in improving pre-monsoon rains and saving the rapidly depleting groundwater, according to agriculture experts.
This year alone, the state has already witnessed around six pre-monsoon rain showers between June 1 and June 18.
