 Ecofriendly moves [1]

with an aim to conserve the vanishing flora and fauna of the city, the Delhi Development Authority (dda) has decided to set up a biodiversity foundation soon. The head of the foundation would be the capital's Lt Governor. It would have botanists and experts from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute as its members.

The decision to establish this foundation comes close on the heels of a plan to develop a biodiversity park by dda and the botony department of Delhi University along the Yamuna river basin. The ambitious biodiversity park would have 5,000 species of flora and fauna and would be sprawled over 80 hectares. The park is supposed to protect the degraded river basin, its groundwater and hydrological features.
