Parking policy for the city will be the major determinant of the fate of central areas, CBD or the downtown. This policy will be complementary to the public transport policy and urban transport policy of the state, The city is facing traffic jams with on street parking devouring two lanes on major streets and does not even have an organized and a well delineated parking lot. In order to give impetus to the development of parking infrastructure especially multi-level parking the local authority will have to think in terms of higher FAR and TDR for the multilevel parking lots.
