Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Deaths due to pollution, 18/12/2017. Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has not conducted any assessment of the premature deaths in the country that have occurred due to air pollution. However, they have published a book titled ‘Body Burden: Lifestyle Diseases’ in 2017 wherein it has cited the Lancet’s Global Burden of Disease estimates of all premature deaths due to air pollution, which is based on models, simulation and extrapolations. Air pollution could be one of the triggering factors for respiratory ailments and associated diseases.
