Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Steps to reduce carbon footprint of steel industry, 11/12/2019. The steel industry is a deregulated sector. The steel companies have undertaken expansion &modernisationprogrammes over the years, thereby adopting state-of-the-art technologies. New green field steel plants have also been set up adopting the best available technologies. All these measures undertaken by the Indian steel industry have resulted in substantial improvement in energy efficiency and reduction in Green House Gas (GHG) emission.
