An average of 1TW of new renewables deployment annually is necessary to reach the world’s 1.5°C climate target by 2030, according to this World Energy Transitions Outlook 2023 preview by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
The World Energy Transitions Outlook outlines a vision for the transition of the energy landscape to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement, presenting a pathway for limiting global temperature rise to within 1.5°C of pre-industrial levels and bringing CO2 emissions to net zero by mid-century. [2]
