Apart from slashing 20 per cent VAT on the price of petrol in the city to bring it down by `1.26 per litre, the Delhi government, in its `33,436-crore Budget 2012-13 announced on Monday, gave the highest allocation to social sector spending.
The huge significance to social sector spending in the Budget is apparently a step to win over sections disgruntled with the Congress as the party prepares for 2013’s Assembly polls.
