Report of the Expert Committee on draft CMZ notification chaired by M S Swaminathan submitted to Minister of State for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh. Recommendations of this committee have been accepted and CMZ 2008 Notification, 2008 lapses on July 22, 2009.

Report of the Expert Committee on the draft Coastal Management Zone (CMZ) Notification, constituted by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, under the Chairmanship of Prof M S Swaminathan. The Committee has found in its deliberations that there are a number of areas of concern in coastal areas that need to be addressed. The Committee suggests that the government should initiate consultations and amend the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Notification, 1991 based on the outcome.
