UNICEF has launched a new guide on financing water, sanitation and hygiene in a bid to expand critically needed services to millions worldwide. The guide, titled, “Developing Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Finance Strategies,” was produced by UNICEF and co-published by SWA, Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the IRC Water and Sanitation Centre. Sector experts have identified financing as one of the greatest barriers to achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 – clean water and sanitation for all. In a blog, the report authors argue why it is vital to be realistic and strategic on financing in order to achieve water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) goals.
