Monitoring tigers is a process, the end product of which is not only the number of tigers but an indication that there has been a change in number of tigers, with an understanding of the
factors that have been responsible for this change. The explicit purpose of this field manual is that it will be used as a reference guide to ensure standardisation of data collection needed for monitoring tiger status and habitat across a
large landscape.
