Government of Himachal Pradesh notified the state water policy during the year 2005. Rapid increase in demand for water due to population growth, urbanization, industrialization, changing life style and climate change have resulted in increased pressure on water resources. Keeping in view the aforesaid factors, the Ministry of Water Resources, Govt. of India has notified the National Water Policy 2012. The State Water Policy is proposed to be revised in accordance with the National Water Policy 2012, keeping in mind the basic concerns and principles as also a unified national perspective.
