Saving lives and livelihoods: The benefits of investments in climate change adaptation and resilience [1]

Adaptation to and resilience against the impacts of climate change are urgent and growing priorities around the world as levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere continue to increase. Investing in climate change adaptation and resilience can be an extremely cost-effective way of protecting communities’ livelihoods and businesses, and promoting economic development and growth. This report highlights six case studies of successful climate change adaptation and resilience, mostly in developing countries. It assesses the success of specific adaptation and resilience processes, the benefits gained and the lessons learned.
