The State Road Transport Undertakings (SRTUs) provide bus-based public transport to urban and rural population of the country. The significant role that SRTUs play in providing mobility to the public can be imagined from the fact that during 2015-16 they, collectively, performed 148 crore passenger-kilometres per day and carried over 6.8 crore passengers per day. This volume of `Review of Performance of State Road Transport Undertakings’ provides comprehensive information on physical and finance performance of 47 reporting SRTUs during 2015-16 and a comparative analysis vis-à-vis the status in 2014-15. It also carries, in broad categories, the status of physical and finance performances of individual SRTUs from 2010-11 till 2015-16.
