Water world: why the global climate challenge is a global water challenge [1]

This report by Stockholm International Water Institute demonstrates why water is critical for climate change adaptation and mitigation, and seeks to raise profile of water in context of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

It is divided into six chapters which address the interrelation of water and climate change in the context of: Livelihoods, Land, Ecosystems, Transboundary Management, Energy and Gender. It intends to provide a helpful resource for decision-makers and negotiators as they begin to elaborate details on a shared vision and co-ordinated response to the climate change challenge. This report was launched by the Global Public Policy Network on Water Management (GPPN) for Copenhagen to make the case for water as a critical consideration for climate change in the broader context of the UNFCCC, up to and beyond COP15.
