National Green Tribunal directs Chandigarh UT Administration to file a complete and comprehensive Affidavit stating as to which study or physical verification as to the total waste generation, contents of waste, particularly, plastic on what basis, particularly glasses, forks, knifes, non-woven products and other such allied material that are injurious to environment.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of R. D. Anand Vs. Chandigarh Union Territory Administration & Others dated 04/11/2015 regarding municipal solid waste management in the city of Chandigarh.

The city of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula being excluded, generates 370 metric tons of municipal solid waste. There is a plant of waste to energy at Chandigarh which has a capacity of treating 270 metric tons of waste.

NGT directs the Advisor to the Administrator, Chandigarh to file sector wise complete status report with regard to collection, segregation and disposal of municipal solid waste from the entire city of Chandigarh.
