The issue for consideration is the remedial action against violation of environmental norms by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and its contractors - M/s Gammon India Ltd (GIL), the Hindustan Construction Co. Ltd. (HCCL) and M/s Choudhary Power Project Pvt. Ltd. (CPPPL), subcontractor of M/s GIL and M/s HCCL, in the course of four laning of National Highway from Udhampur to Banihal in Jammu and Kashmir.

Report by the NGT Monitoring Committee (J&K) on the disposal of muck and debris during the four laning of National Highways-44 down the hill slopes and also into the Chenab river and other small rivulets, Jammu & Kashmir. The report was in compliance to the NGT order of March 20, 2020 in the matter of Amresh Singh Vs Union of India & Others.

Report in terms of the National Green Tribunal order of January 9, 2020 in O.A. No. 295/2016 in the matter of Amresh Singh Vs Union of India. The report was filed by the NGT Monitoring Committee, Jammu on March 17, 2020. The matter arise from a complaint lodged by one Amresh Singh with regard to rampant dumping of soil in Chenab and Tawi rivers in the process of four-laning of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, NH-44 from Udhampur to Banihal, adversely affecting the environmental balance.

Ltd.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Amresh Singh Vs Union of India & Others dated 26/04/2019 regarding pollution caused in the course of four-laning of National Highway from Udhampur to Banihal in Jammu and Kashmir by the Gammon India Limited and the Hindustan Construction Co. Ltd. These Review Applications have been filed by Gammon India Ltd. and Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. for review of the order dated 12.02.2019. By the said order, the Tribunal directed both the said applicants to pay interim compensation of Rs.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Amresh Singh Vs. Union of India & Others dated 14/03/2017 regarding dumping of debris from the construction of the road from Udhampur to Banihal in rivers Ravi and Chenab, Jammu & Kashmir. NGT directs NHAI and the State of Jammu & Kashmir to ensure that all the subcontractors are served notice and they appear before the Tribunal on the next date of hearing (26/04/2017).
