Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Bhanu Dehuri Vs Director, Directorate of Mines Minerals & Others dated 05/09/2017 regarding illegal mining of sand in Jhargram and West Midnapur districts of West Bengal. The Tribunal while disposing of this Application directs the authorities to continue maintaining vigil to ensure that no illegal mining and lifting of sand takes place in the area.

It is alleged that proper procedures are not being followed in accordance with West Bengal Minor Minerals (Concession) Rules, 2016 in respect of e-auction of sand mining at Kanshabati and Subarnarekha rivers.
