Affidavit cum report regarding factual and action taken report in respect of unscientific dumping of garbage on the roads on behalf of North Delhi Municipal Corporation (North DMC) in compliance of the NGT order dated 19/07/2019 in the matter of Birender Sangwan Vs North Delhi Municipal Corporation & Others. The report was uploaded on February 25, 2020 The matter related to unscientific dumping of garbage on the roads in absence of any effective mechanism by the municipal corporations as per the provisions of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.
North DMC comprises of six zones namely Civil Line Zone, City SP Zone, Karol Bagh Zone, Keshav Puram Zone, Narela Zone and Rohini Zone and all the six zones has mechanism for supervision of solid waste management. The report also mentioned the present and future plans for solid waste management which included door to door collection and segregation of solid waste being done by the informal sector like waste pickers. Further, after the primary collection of solid waste, the same was transferred to to i) Fixed Compactor Transfer Stations (FCTS) and ii) Mobile Compactors. The secondary transport of SW through the FCTSs/ Mobile Compactors involves disposing the solid waste at Waste to Energy Plant, Compost Plant or the Sanitary Landfill site.
