Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vipin Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Others dated 03/07/2023.
The NGT directed a joint committee to look into the matter of illegal mining in village Subhanpur, district Baghpat as well in village Nauraspur, district Ghaziabad. The committee will comprise of the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Uttar Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board and district magistrates of Baghpat and Ghaziabad. The joint committees will undertake visit to the site, interact with the stakeholders and give a factual and action taken report within two months.
The tribunal, July 3 was hearing two matters of illegal mining. One dealt with illegal mining in village Subhanpur, tehsil Khekda, district Baghpat by Anjanisut Infrastructure Private Limited. Case of the applicant was that Anjanisut Infrastructure had already extracted soil beyond 20,000 cubic mtrs. This was in violations of conditions of mining permit issued by the Directorate of Geology and Mining, Uttar Pradesh under the Uttar Pradesh Minor (Concessions) Rules, 2021. The NGT also took up the case of illegal mining over an area of 1.81 hectares, village Nauraspur, tehsil Loni, district Ghaziabad at Yamuna river by M/s Vaibhavraj Enterprises.
