Dec. 19: Reports of more chicken deaths from Gajole block reached the authorities in Malda town today when they were planning to wrap up the culling operation in bird flu-hit Narhatta.

GUWAHATI, Dec 19: Although culling operations are over in various parts of the state, Asom is concentrating on reducing bird flu infection risk in humans as cases of its relapse have been reported.
Such cases had been reported from Barpeta district where culling operations formally got over, official sources said today.

GUWAHATI, Dec 16: With more reports of unnatural death of birds coming from various parts of the State, the avian influenza seems to have gone out control of the State Veterinary Department that could not meet the December 16 deadline for completion of culling operation set by the Union Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Ministry.

SHILLONG: The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary (AH&V) Department has begun spraying of disinfectants, including sodium hypochloride, in the villages of Ri-Bhoi district bordering Assam, where at least 1100 birds have been culled as a precautionary measure against bird flu.

SHILLONG: With bird flu spreading to at least nine districts of Assam and parts of Bangladesh bordering Meghalaya, the State Government has banned import of poultry and poultry products from that state and the neighbouring country.

NEW DELHI: Overcrowding, poor sanitation and infectious diseases are among the factors causing the death of cows at the five go-sadans in the Capital.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has conveyed this to the Delhi High Court in reply to a public interest litigation that on an average 100 cattle die every day at these cow shelters due to unhygienic conditions.
