AGARTALA, May 1: The searing heat, coupled with severe shortage of water and power-cut, has affected the normal life in Tripura for the last few days.
Adding to the woes, Agartala Municipal Authority had stopped water supply in a large area of the capital town from yesterday.

The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) was launched in North Tripura with job cards to 30 families of Hirachhara and Golakpur village under tribal area autonomous district council as the first step of NREGA execution in the localities. An official release here today said at a formal ceremony at Srirampur HS School ground yesterday, venue of Bharat Nirman Campaign of Ministry of Broadcasting, the Government handed over the job cards to the selected beneficiaries.

About 19 people died of Malaria and more than 100 people were admitted to different hospitals in the last 14 days in Tripura, official sources today said. Mungiakami block under Taliamura subdivison of West Tripura district was the worst affected with nine deaths reported from there so far. However, a health worker in Teliamura primary health centre said there was nothing to worry as the centre has adequate medicines to cope up with the situation.
