Report filed by the MoEF&CC states that forest fire hotspots have been identified which are 74 in number based on Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectro-radiometer (MODIS) data. Satellite-based forest fire alerts are sent through sms/e-mails for effective measures.

Tribunal directs that State of Uttar Pradesh and State of Uttarakhand to submit to the MoEF & CC the Crisis Management Plan for forest fires preventions and control prepared by them.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Rajiv Dutta, Senior Adv. Vs. Union of India & Ors. dated 04/05/2016 regarding forest fire in the State of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. NGT asks the State Government of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, particularly the Forest Department on the fire alerts received by them from the Forest Survey of India and to place on record the alerts received by them for last two months and whether they have made mapping of the forest areas which is critical as far as forest fire is concerned.
