Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Rajiv Savara Vs. Darrameks Hotel & Developers Pvt. Ltd. & Others dated 01/09/2016 regarding constructions by Darrameks Hotel that are existing within the 300 meter from the middle of the river Ganga at the site in question (Rishikesh, Uttarakhand).

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Rajiv Savara Vs. Darrameks Hotel & Developers Pvt. Ltd. & Ors. dated 05/08/2016 regarding illegal construction for commercial purposes on the river bed of Ganga in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.

The Counsel for Darrameks Hotel & Developers Pvt. Ltd. submits that in discharge of corporate and social responsibilities they would clean plastic and other waste from river Ganga which comes within their stretch.

Related Order: 

The National Green Tribunal in the 38-page verdict on March 21, 2016  constituted a committee and asked it to submit a report regarding construction activities by Darrameks Hotels & Developers Private Limited on banks and the flood plains of river Ganga at village Singtali , District Tehri Garhwal, in Uttarakhand. The green tribunal also stated that the hotel authorities shall be liable to pay environmental compensation of Rs. 20 Lakh for violating the conditions set in the Consent to Establish issued by the Uttaranchal Environment Protection & Pollution Control Board (UEPPCB) and for disturbing the immediate/direct catchment of the river Ganga by changing the drainage pattern through the use of JCBs for levelling the area.
