Action taken report regarding solid waste dumped in forest land, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, 27/10/2023

Action taken report on behalf of Himachal Pradesh through Principal Secretary (Urban Development) in compliance to the National Green Tribunal order dated July 21, 2023.

The matter related to legacy waste at forest land in Hamirpur. Municipal Council, Hamirpur said that it is not using forest land for dumping purposes.

The municipal solid waste is being processed in the solid waste management plant on a daily basis. The Municipal Council has asked the Divisional Forest Officer for 0.65 hectare land for the construction of a solid waste management plant. So far land has not been transferred in the name of the Urban Development Department, but in principle approval has been accorded by the forest department.

The work of processing legacy waste is being carried out. 437 tons of bio mining legacy waste has been sorted/disposed of in the months of July, August and September 2023. Till October 3, 2023, 3461 tons of legacy waste has been sorted. Also, during the processing, approximately 65 tons of refuse derived fuel (RDF) was recovered from legacy waste.
