The matter related to pollution of river Kshipra and the status of river in Dewas, Ujjain, Indore and Ratlam district. Nagdhaman nalla near Hawankhedi and Mendki nalla near Marethi village meet to river Kshipra at Dewas. In upstream of Dewas industrial area various colonies are located and their domestic waste water flows in the Nagdhaman nallah, that passes through the industrial area. At present, 3 sewage treatment plant installed by the Municipal Corporation Dewas are operational but not treating the wastewater of nallas of Dewas city.
At Ujjain, no interception and diversion of Piliya Khal Nalla was found. Thus, Piliya Khal Nalla directly meets river Kshipra at Mangalnath. A detailed project report has been prepared by the Municipal Corporation, Ujjain for a sewerage scheme under Amrut 2.0 for the remaining area of Ujjain city. Coloured waste water generated from cottage industries from printing and dyeing units in Bherugarh area Ujjain directly meets river Kshipra near Siddhwat. The STP and wastewater treatment plant project of the Municipal Corporation, Ujjain is in the tendering stage.
During inspection no mining activity was found in the river Kshipra and along the banks. Disposal of solid waste into river Kshipra was not observed during inspection. "In Ujjain although 11 nallas have interception and diversion points under Kshipra Shuddhikaran Yojna but sometimes for very few duration due to power failure and mechanical problem overflow of these nalla goes directly to river Kshipra at different points and contaminates the river".
