Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding groundwater recharge not being done scientifically, resulting in contamination of groundwater, 31/05/2019
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Mahesh Chandra Saxena Vs Central Pollution Control Board & Others dated 31/05/2019 regarding groundwater recharge by Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Public Works Department (PWD) Delhi, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) through rain water harvesting structures being not scientific and resulting in contamination of groundwater.
The NGT directs a joint Committee of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) to take samples of groundwater and study the methodology of groundwater recharge and furnish a report to the Tribunal within one month.
