Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding illegal extraction of ground water in Faridabad by an industry, 30/04/2019
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Ram Kumar Vs State of Haryana & Other dated 30/04/2019 regarding illegal extraction of ground water in Faridabad which was declared as ‘Dark Zone’ for over-exploitation of ground water. The applicant sought closure of R.R. Industries at Village & PO Macchgar, Tehsil Ballabgarh, District Faridabad.
The report submitted by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) along with the Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad and Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) shows that the unit is working even after closure in 2016 which shows that the closure orders are not complied and follow up action is not taken by the State PCB, as required. There is nothing to show that compensation for illegal extraction of ground water has been recovered.
Counsel for HSPCB states that necessary action for assessment and recovery of compensation for illegal extraction of ground water will be taken within one month and the assessment would be made by a Joint Committee of the CPCB, CGWA and HSPCB.
