Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Dipak Mahapatra Vs West Bengal Mineral Development and Trading Corporation Ltd. & Others dated 28/07/2022.

The matter related to misuse of contract meant for dredging in the river bed of Subarnarekha - by using it for commercial sand mining activities.

Tender has been floated by the West Bengal Mineral Development and Trading Corporation Limited (WBMDTCL) for dredging/desilting/removal of the river bed materials from the Subarnarekha river at Sankrail,Howrah district.

The NGT said that the matter required consideration and directed submission of reports on the matter. The matter has been listed for September 12, 2022.
