Taking serious note of tannery pollution, the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) has served a legal notice upon the country's authorities demanding an immediate relocation of tanneries from the city's Hazari Bagh residential area. BELA has also asked for pollution-fighting devices that ought to be installed by the tanneries when they are shifted to a suitable site for operation.
