Portable power sawmills with small engines have been developed by an Australian company. The sawmill, weighing 325 kg, takes only five minutes to reset and can be dismantled into five pieces and carried in the rear of a small vehicle. Made of high tensile steel and galvanised components, the sawmill can work on felled timber right on the spot where it falls, thereby saving time, energy and humanpower required to haul the timber to the sawmill site. The sawmill can cut through logs of 6.2 m length and 1.5 m diameter into 40-cm-wide boards with the help of a circular blade, which can rotate through 180 degrees.
