Highlights of the proposed central crisis group alert system

• Constitute a Central crisis group at the Centre

• Constitute state, district and local level crisis groups

• Set up a 24-hour functional control room at the MEF, and state and district headquarters

• Set up an information networking system with state and district control room

• Provide the control room with equipment, facilities, literature and databases for chemical accident management

• Appoint adequate staff and experts in the control room

• Publish list of MAH units and major accidents

• Publish a state list of experts and members of crisis groups

• Publish a brochure explaining the functioning of the system

• Create public awareness to chemicals accident prevention, preparedness and mitigation

• Ensure investigation of major accidents by the crisis groups, at all levels
