NTPC Ltd. said Thursday it aims to more than double its power generating capacity to 75 gigawatts by March 2017, as the state-run company seeks to meet surging demand for electricity in the world's second-fastest-growing major economy.

NTPC aims to further increase its installed capacity to 128 GW by 2032, Chairman Arup Roy Choudhury said in a speech at an annual meeting of shareholders.
