Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding declaring a water body in NCT Delhi as wetland, 10/10/2019
Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage Vs Govt. of NCT of Delhi & Others dated 10/10/2019 regarding declaring a water body falling partly in NCT Delhi and partly in Haryana as a wetland.
Application filed by Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage states that the necessary action was not taken and the Tribunal sought an action taken report from Delhi and Haryana. The report filed states that there is doubt that it is a private land and not a wetland and the assertion was based on revenue record of 2005. But as against the revenue record, a 1983 gazette notification shows the area to be a lake.
The NGT directs that to clear up the confusion, the earlier revenue records should be checked up. The Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon has been directed to depute an expert of the department to look into the revenue record and a further action taken report filed.
