Daram Govinda Rajan resident of Chataparru, Eluru mandal, Eluru district, Andhra Pradesh filed an application before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) regarding massive illegal encroachments by construction of ponds leading to ecological destruction in Kolleru lake which is one of the prominent lakes in Eluru and Krishna districts of Andhra Pradesh.

The NGT directed the state of Assam to expeditiously complete the task of removing hydrophytes from the Deeport Beel and for issuing notification declaring Eco-Sensitive Zone of Deepor Beel Wildlife Sanctuary within one month.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has notified Wetlands (Conservation and Management) Rules, 2017 (hereinafter Wetlands Rules) under the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 as regulatory framework for conservation and management of wetlands in India.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Raja Muzaffar Bhat Vs State of Jammu and Kashmir & Others dated 16/12/2019. The issue for consideration is prevention of unscientific dumping of waste and encroachment of Hokersar Wetland, Wular Lake and Kreentchoo-Chandhara Wetland in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Apart from solid waste, sewage was also entering the wetlands.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage Vs Govt. of NCT of Delhi & Others dated 10/10/2019 regarding declaring a water body falling partly in NCT Delhi and partly in Haryana as a wetland.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Rohit Chowdhury Vs Union of India & Others dated 19/08/2019. The issues discussed were shifting of the solid waste mangement plant near Deepor Beel and encroachment of the wetland, Guwahati, Assam.
