The National Green Tribunal (NGT), October 20, 2023 dismissed the appeal filed against the environmental clearance (EC) dated March 9, 2020 granted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) in favour of M/s. Grievance in the application is against proposed Sambhar festival between 17 – 19 February, 2023 at Sambhar Lake near Jaipur. This will involve activities like kite flying, paragliding, motorcycle expedition. Vedanta's prospecting licence area is located far from Barnawapara sanctuary, Mahasamund district, Chhattisgarh and its eco-sensitive zone boundary.
