Daram Govinda Rajan resident of Chataparru, Eluru mandal, Eluru district, Andhra Pradesh filed an application before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) regarding massive illegal encroachments by construction of ponds leading to ecological destruction in Kolleru lake which is one of the prominent lakes in Eluru and Krishna districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Judgement of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Ch. Narasimha Rao & Others Vs Land Acquisition Officer, Eluru & Others dated 09/12/2015 on whether Reference Applications filed by the appellants under Section 18 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (hereinafter referred to as "the Act"), was beyond statutory period.
Eluru, Sept. 19: The revenue minister, Mr Dharmana Prasada Rao, made it clear that the government would no longer acquire lands from farmers for setting industrial units under the private sector.
Eluru, Sept. 17: In an effort to ensure safe drinking water to the people in the rural areas in the state, the Congress government has spent nearly Rs 5,150 crores so far. Minister for rural water supply Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao addressing the people at Dendulur and Gopannapalem villages here on Wednesday said that the government had taken up special measures to ensure supply of potable water.
